SC195 Joyful Santa

It's getting close to that Christmas season - so I thought I had better start thinking about making some Christmas cards. This card was made inspired by SC195 but I altered the way the squares sit so it looked a bit better for this card. I contemplated using a bit more colour but I liked it with just the red and white! The "joy" sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder so it would jump out against the red paper.

TECC35 Lots of Ribbon

This has to be one of my favourite cards I have ever made! The layout was inspired by Taylored Expressions: TECC35. I had really been wanting to play with my Verve Visual stamp set "Asian Flair especially this particular sentiment. Since it had to do with ribbons I really wanted to use a lot of ribbon (which is my favourite embellishment) on the card - and what better way than creating a ribbon weave! I love the way this turned out!

Paper: SU groovy guava, ww, ginger blossom dp

WSC59 Spider

This is my card for Beate's WSC59. This was a fun sketch to play with and it took me a long time to decide which of the adorable Halloween papers to use! This card is very simple and quick to make - I'm trying to do more "quick" cards that don't have a lot of layering like I usually do!

Stamps: SU Batty for You
Ink: SU Basic black
Paper: SU basic black, kiwi kiss, ghostly grettings dp
Misc: Su punches

Batty for You Pixie Stix

I love all of the stamps and papers for Halloween although I don't actually have much use for them as we don't have kids and we live in an apartment so kids don't trick-or-treat here. I decided to go ahead and use my favourite Halloween set SU's "Batty for You" to decorate some pixie stix since they are so cheap. These use the new In Colours tangerine tango and kiwi kiss. For the white images on black paper, I used white embossing powder so it would be really noticeable. The scallops were attached to the pixie sticks by taking a glue dot and wrapping it around the stick. I love the way these turned out. I'm at home with an injury from work so Grant ran to the store to get the pixie stix for me and he even got them orange specifically since he knew I wanted them for a Halloween project! Thanks G! Maybe I'll give them to my sister to use for school or something.

Supplies

Stamps: SU Batty for You
Ink: SU kiwi kiss, tangerine tango, basic black, versamagic
Paper: SU basic black, tangerine tango, kiwi kiss, ww
Punches: SU scallop punch, circle punches
Misc: SU white ep

Criss Cross Thanks

This is a card I had created quite a long time ago, when I first learned how to make a criss cross card. It was before I got a lot into stamping so I used the Bazzill Basics chip topper for the sentiment - I still love these because they are great when in a rush for a cute card. It is still one of my favourites because of the soft colours. You can find directions to make your own criss cross card here. They are really easy and look great!

Supplies:

Paper: Bazzill Basics pink, green and white cardstock, KI Memories and Costco dp
Ribbon: Pink Spool O'ribbon
Misc: Bazzill Basics chip toppers, Provo Craft snap ease fasteners, Fiskars decorative scissors

Rock Silhouettes

Here are the last of the cards I made using the pocket silhouettes stamps and layout I posted a few days ago. These too are made using only SU supplies but they use last years In Colour River rock. Tip for stampers/cardmakers: When you find a card layout and design you really like, make a few of it all at once. This way, it goes quicker to cut the cardstock all at once and create a kind of assembly line process! I would have loved a yellow or green version of these too, but I don't have those ribbons yet! Guess I know what I'll have to add to my next order. Hope you've enjoyed these!

The thing I really enjoy about these cards too is how versatile they are. Without a sentiment on them, they can be used for just about any occassion!

Pink Pirouette Pockets

Here is another version of the cards I made that are made using SU pink pirouette and all SU supplies. These are my second favorite of them all (the white ones are the first). The pictures and previous posts explain it all, including supplies, but let me know if you have any questions.

Baja Silhouettes Set and Candy For A Cause

I liked the pocket silhouettes cards that I made yesterday so much that I decided to make several more sets of it using different colours and ribbons. I will share them all with you over the next couple of days. These cards are made using the new SU In Colour Baja Breeze and are cards made using only SU supplies. I like the way these turned out, but they seem a little dark to me. Since I ended up making so many of these cards, I have decided to use some of the cards from the next few posts to give to caregivers of Alzheimer's patients. I am doing this as part of Carolyn King's blog candy for a great cause. Carolyn has raised over $1000 in blog candy and has done a lot to help out with Alzheimer's through her recently released stamp set. If you want a chance to win this huge blog candy, check out her blog post here.

Supplies:

Stamps: SU pocket silhouettes
Ink: SU basic black
Paper: SU basic black, baja breeze
Ribbon: SU baja breeze

On all of the cards, the paper piercing was done using my sewing machine - goes faster that way!

I'm Back with WSC58!

Well after finding a wedding dress, having surgery and returning to the hospital from some complications, I am back! I realized when I returned to Lethbridge that one bad thing about being a nurse in a small town is that when you get admitted, everyone knows about it, especially when you get admitted to the same unit you work on! It was a little uncomfortable, but everyone was great! I don't make a very good patient though. Thank you everyone who kept me in their thoughts.

I'm not sure how much I'll feel like crafting over the next while still, but I did manage to get one card in yesterday for Beate's WSC58. This card doubled for my card for VVPP06 to use Kraft cardstock (although I'm not sure if it even counts since I did not use my Verve stamps). I'm quite happy with the way this card turned out.

I had never used Kraft cardstock before, but I love the way that it looks so I think I'll be using it much more!

Stamps: SU Eastern Blooms, Short & Sweet
Paper: SU Kraft, certainly celery, ww, Kraft dp (hostess set)
Ink: SU certainly celery
Brads: Bazzill white

No Posts for a While

Well, I guess I lied. In my previous post I thought I'd be able to post some new things this week but that will not happen. I went to Calgary for a doctor appointment and am now having surgery this Friday! So quick! Nothing major, but stamping will have be on hold at least until I return to Lethbridge. On the plus side, I found (and ordered) my wedding dress!

I Am Alive!!

I've had a few questions wondering where/how I am, and to let you all know I am fine. I've just been very busy with my friends wedding last weekend in Calgary, working evenings shifts at the hospital, and trying to figure out stuff for my own wedding!

So, there probably won't be anything new for a few days, but I wanted to let you all know something that I think is so great. Gina K. Designs just realeased a new set of stamps and if you are in need/want of some fall stamps, check out this set they are selling designed by Carolyn King, whose blog is linked to the right. Carolyn made this set as a tribute to her grandmother who recently passed and had suffered from Alzheimer's for 12 years. In addition, 100% of the proceeds from the selling of this set go to the Alzheimer Association (Pennsylvania chapter)! You can read more about it here on her blog.

Hopefully, I'll have some time for stamping late next week!
