Congratulations On Your Success

This has been a great year for Grant! Last year, right out of university, he got offered a maternity leave contact teaching grade 1. As a result of his work with his students he was nominated for the Edwin Parr outstanding first year teaching award. He won the award for his district and this picture is us on our way to the banquet. He was one of only 10 nominees for the overall province award but unfortunately didn't take that one home, but it's still very impressive and I could not be more proud! To top it off, with tons of cutbacks in teaching, Grant was hired on a permanent basis to teach grade 3 starting September! This is the card I made for him when he got the news! Stamps: SU Full of Life
Ink: SU basic black
Paper: SU basic black, ww, sweet pea dp (unavailable)
Punches: SU word window punch, corner rounder

Thank You Teacher - Part 3

This is the final card I created for Taryn! I think it's my least favourite - it's too green. It seemed nicer in my head than it turned out to be. I told Taryn that she didn't have to use it and I would gladly make another but she was being gracious and said it was great! Supplies

Stamps: Stamping Bella Teachabella, SU Sweet Little Sentiments (level 1 hostess)
Ink: SU chocolate chip, close to cocoa, basic black, old olive, real red, bashful blue, pumpkin pie
Pastels: SU creamy caramel, chocolate chip
Paper: SU ww, old olive, summer picnic dp (retired)
Brad: SU old olive

Thank You Teacher

As some of you may be aware Grant will be graduating from University this year with his third degree - this time in Education. A good friend of ours, whom he met through the Education program, asked me if I would make 3 thank you cards for her to give to people in the school where she had this latest practicum. So here is one of the cards I made using this great Stamping Bella stamp "Teachabella." I asked Taryn if she minded if I used this image for all 3 cards because I just love it and it is so fitting for the occasion! So you'll be seeing a couple of more cards over the next few days using this set as well to finish up the cards for Taryn.

Supplies

Stamp: Stamping Bella Teachabella, SU sweet little sentiments (level 1 hostess)
Ink: SU basic black, pumpkin pie, bashful blue, real red, chocolate chip
Pastels: SU chocolate chip, creamy caramel, old olive
Paper: SU ww, real red, summer picnic dp (retired)
Ribbon: SU striped

Long Post: Teacher Birthday

Warning: This is a very long post but has lots of cards (24) and packaging to show you - I hope you'll take the time to read it (there's a lesson I learned at the end that I think all cardmakers and scrapbookers should read)!

Yesterday, I showed you the gift card tin I created for my sisters birthday but that was not all I gave her! I also gave her a set of 24 cards made with a special purpose in mind.

For the last couple of years I have been giving her cards for Christmas for her own use but she is selective with who gets them because I can only make so many cards! Since she is a teacher, I figured parents and students are probably one of groups of people who get left out so that she can give them to family and friends. These cards are designed to change that!

Remember this card? Well, although it would have been nice to have been for Grant's TA, it was actually one of the 24 I made for my sister. All 24 cards are thank you cards for when students/teachers help out!

I made 4 each of 6 different designs:

Red Design 1: Red Design 2: Green Design 1 (the greens have a white board instead of chalkboard so there wasn't green overload): Green Design 2: Blue Design 1 (please excuse the crappy pictures of these ones): Blue Design 2: There are not too many differences between designs 1 and 2 of each of the colours but it just gave a little more variety than there otherwise would be.

Of course, after making all of these cards I had to find a cute way to package them! The clear boxes from PTI were the perfect choice. They just had to be jazzed up a bit! I made three boxes and each holds the eight cards of one of the colour schemes. SU ribbon and punched out images of the apple were the final touch to the boxes to make them extra special and teacher-y!

LESSON: I have to tell you I learned an important lesson in making all of these - to stop hoarding! I had been hoarding the SU Summer Picnic paper like you wouldn't believe because I love it so much and finally decided to use it for this project because it looked so bright and cheery. It wasn't an easy decision because I knew it would use a lot of paper. After all 24 cards were done, I actually still had quite a lot of this paper left (even after having made previous cards wtih it too) and I only bought one pack! Just shows you how much value you get out of one pack of SU paper for $11.75!
