SFYTT Mustard Daisies

This card is for last Saturdays SFYTT. The only thing I changed was making the image panel not go all the way to the edge of the card on the right side - I just liked it better this way. I wish that this dp wasn't retired because it has to be one of my favourites, which is weird because normally I wouldn't like these colours! I coloured the Upsy Daisy stamp with my more mustard, sage shadow and chocolate chip markers and stamped it onto white cardstock. Pretty easy for a beautiful look!

Stamps: SU Upsy Daisy, Thank You Kindly
Ink: SU sage shadow, chocolate chip, more mustard
Paper: SU ww, more mustard, chocolate chip, autumn vine dp (retired)
Misc: SU Beautiful Wings embosslits, circle cutter

Decor Elements in the Office

The office in our house is my craft room as well as a work space for Grant to prepare lesson plans for his students. We loved the idea of putting the Decor Elements definitions of create (for me) and inspire (for Grant) in the office space.

We purchased the vinyl definitions some time ago but only recently decided to put them up. I didn't want to put them directly on the wall as we are renting and looking into building a house in the near future. We found these great frames at Michaels that fit the element perfectly. To make them a little more interesting we purchased some fabric to put behind them. I want both of them to have the same fabric behind but I couldn't decide on which I liked more at the store so I bought two so I could see what they look like.

I love the pink (my favourite colour) and cute honeycomb pattern of this fabric.
I love the polka dots and green-blue colour of this one. After seeing both, I still can't really decide because they each have different things I like. Grant thinks we should leave them different but I want them one on top of the other in the office in the same pattern for consistency. Which do you think looks better?

Grade 1 Valentine's

These are the Valentine's that I created for Grant to give to his grade 1 students. Normally, I try to make them without so many layers but I'm trying not to hoard my supplies so much. These were actually quite easy to make too. Not much to say about these, just email me if you have any questions. I made a total of 16 cards and even with the layers they were quite easy to do quickly!

Stamps: SU Fox & Friends, Wild About You
Ink: SU real red, versamark
Paper: SU real red, real red dp, ww
Punch: SU small heart punch

SFYTT Baja Butterfly

I have to say I absolutely LOVE the way this card turned out for Jen's SFYTT sketch this week. I didn't even realize until I was making this post that my card is actually quite similar to Jen's sample card. This uses the Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings embosslits die that both embosses and cuts four different styles of butterflies. I stamped baja breeze cardstock with the Dot dot dot set then used the largest of the butterflies for this card. Then I glued it onto gray cardstock and trimmed a border around it with my paper snips, then repeated again on another piece of baja breeze.

Stamps: SU Dot dot dot, Sweet Little Sentiments
Ink: SU baja breeze, basic gray
Paper: SU baja breeze, basic gray, green tea dp (retired)
Punch: SU word window punch, circle cutter
Embosslits: SU Beautiful Wings
Bling: Heidi Swapp Bling

Poofy Flower CASE

This is so not my typical style, but for some reason I loved the simple look of it on Dawn's blog when she showed the tutorial on how to create this poofy flower. I substituted all the supplies to create an entirely Stampin' Up! card and made the center of the flower with a build-a-brad since I didn't have any buttons in the colour I wanted to use. As for the poofy flower, I just grabbed an old book that we didn't want anymore and decided to keep it for creating these flowers.

Did you know? The stamp set, Thank you Kindly, that I used on this card was earned for free during Sale-A-Bration. You can review all the details about Sale-A-Bration through the link on my sidebar or read about it here.

Stamps: SU Thank You Kindly
Ink: SU rose red
Paper: SU ww, kraft, thoroughly modern dp
Punches: SU scallop edge punch, 1/2" circle punch
Brad: SU build-a-brad

Emboss Resist Challenge

PTI is celebrating their 3rd anniversary and is offering up some challenges to celebrate! Here is the first one I got the chance to participate in. The challenge was to use the emboss resist technique. I've never tried this technique before but I liked the way it looked so I tried it along with watercolouring to try to create a sunset look. It's not perfect, but I like it. It's not too bad for my first attempt at this technique and at watercolouring too.

Stamps: SU Pocket Silhouettes
Ink: SU Versamark, pumpkin pie, dusty durango, crushed curry
Paper: SU ww, watercolour paper, razzleberry lemonade dp
Punch: SU word window punch

A Touch of Romance Tin

Here's another project from Andrea Walford's online class "A Touch of Romance". Scroll down to the previous post if you missed the first project. If you are interested in registering for the class check out this page on Andrea's blog. This was the first project that Andrea shares in the class and it's my favourite of all the projects. For this project I really stylized it my own way to make it exactly the way I wanted and Andrea encourages you to do so. Also, if you don't have the tin, she offers a different but similar project/template. I combined the two different projects to create this one. I am actually going to be giving the completed project to Grant later so I'm not sharing much information on what goes inside other than these little inserts. I'm trying not to let him see it "in person" until he gets it because I always find that pictures don't do projects justice (especially 3D items when you can't see all angles).
